09/28/2007: Depressing News for the Year-End Backend 485 Delays and Potential Waste of Visa Numbers for FY 2007
Unconfirmed sources indicate that two days before the end of FY 2007, there may be a substantial number of 485 applications for which visa numbers are available but have yet to be adjudicated, indicating that some visa numbers could be wasted this year. We know that the Service Centers have been working day and night and did not have enough resources to deal with the crisis which was brought about by the recent Visa Bulletin fiasco. We just hope for the better new fiscal year that will start from October 1, 2007.

Thank you karan007, pvhemanth, zappy, dvrao4, lp2007 and permfiling for the contributions. I am so happy that we were able to conclude this round with the help of only the junior members. Some of you have not posted much. Obviously, you found lot of things on this site that piqued your interest. I appreciate the fact that you did not hesitate to pull the trigger. Because of you, we can close this round and move to the final round.
I hope the final round starts with a person who visits this site regularly, find helpful suggestions and tips, and is generally happy with things moving in the right direction and knows IV is an important part of this process. Even though he supports the rally, he cannot come because he probably lives on the west coast, but would have definitely attended the rally if he or she were working in NJ, MD, PA, VA or any other neighboring states. He doesn�t have many questions to ask, but once in a while she does have a quick question, but rejects that idea because of the process involved. She knows that a user id is required to post any questions.

In VA can we extend Driving License with receipt notice of h1 extension .

I went to the VA DMV in Sterling yesterday and the person there refused to renew my DL based on my original H1B extension extension RECEIPT Notice, saying there is no 'Date' on this document. :mad: These ppl are too dumb. It says clearly on DMV's website - they will give you a 1 yr extension IF there is no date on that document. Need to take a lawyer and paralegal along next time... :confused:

What estimated # of applications is USCIS expecting through this movement?
If the dates were current last year same time, how many ppl with PDs between 2004 and 2006 would have missed the bus last year? Dont think many wld have...

True , hope it will relieve as house sees through it and will make life of all easier by making it amendments or even drop the whole law , We dont want it.
But also can some one point to me to place where it says H1B is not dual intent , i could only find DUAL iNTENT for some students.

and eb2 possibly mid 2005 or later.
All the calculations point to that.
visa bulletins suck donkey ass.
totally meaningless without USCIS divulging backlog stats.
I m in ...They really dont know what they are doing ...How hard is it to find pending applications in thier database ?
Move to 2006 and approve 2006 cases and move it back to 2003 ...wow they really need help

Sent an email to PBEC a month ago asking about my case status. Got their response today. They assigned me a case number, which seems to be generated on the 157th day of 2005 (P-05157-54869 ). However, my lawyer hasn't received any 45-day letter. Can this be possible?
My PD is April 2004. Filed from Delaware. Anybody knows a similar case?
Below is the email reply from PBEC:

When I started my process in 2005 I was told that the whole thing will take 2-3 years. It is almost 4 years now and based on the VB movement for the last few months I have been thinking that this process can easily take 6-7 years and now DOS says it may as well take decades for those born in India. :mad:

pardon my ignorance. But since you already applied for 485, it means you will get GC in april 2009(if pd becomes dec 2005) ?

My application was filed under PERM EB2 on May 12th and it got approved on Sep 2nd. Filed I-140 under premium processing yesterday. My attorney has requested earlier priority date (June 2003, EB3) while filing EB2 I-140. He said, once I-140 is approved and priority date porting is done, I-485 may be approved automatically. If not approved for a period of time (say a month or so), interfiling may be requested.
